Woodruff Brewing

Woodruff Brewing operates as the brewing side of Downtown Grill & Brewery in Knoxville’s historic Woodruff Building on Gay Street. The downtown brewpub makes its beer on site, using a 15-barrel Bohemian brewhouse that is visible from the dining room, while additional brewing equipment and serving tanks sit beneath the main floor. Its house lineup is rooted largely in traditional styles, including pale ale, IPA, porter, stout, Kölsch-style blonde ale, brown ale, and German-style altbier. The setting combines an active brewery with a full-service restaurant, where the menu centers on mesquite-grilled steaks, seafood, and chicken alongside pastas and other entrees. Historic photographs, hardwood floors, and the building’s long Knoxville history give the space a character distinct from a typical modern taproom.
