Pretentious Beer Co.

Pretentious Beer Co. is an experimental brewery in Knoxville’s Old City that combines small-batch brewing with an on-site glassblowing studio. Founded by glass artist and brewer Matthew Cummings, the brewery shares its space with Pretentious Glass Co., where handmade drinking vessels are produced alongside the beer program. Visitors can drink house-brewed beer from glassware made in-house and see the glassmaking process firsthand, with the brewery and studio connected by a beer garden. Pretentious focuses on frequently changing, small-batch recipes rather than a fixed lineup, with brewing interests that include IPAs, lagers, creative sour beers, and unconventional hard seltzers. The combination of brewing and working glass gives the taproom a distinct identity within Knoxville’s craft beer scene while providing an experience that extends beyond the beer itself.
